The Call to Come

In Matthew 11:28 we read:

"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'"

We often read this verse and feel a sense of relief that Jesus is able to take our burdens. But how often do we actually take our burdens to Jesus? How often do we give him our struggles and then carry on with life, looking for the next project; without giving Jesus the chance to allow us to feel rested and refreshed?

After a full few days of ministry, Jesus went off in to the hills to rest and spend time with his Father. If Jesus - the Son of God - needed to do this, how much more to we need to do this? How much more do we need to spend time with God, allowing us to give us His strength, wisdom and power to enable us to carry on in our ministries?

Jesus us call us to come, with our burdens and allow Him to carry them for us. This summer, why not think about taking some time out to soak up God's rest and receive his help?
